Tiwa Savage on her philosophy of life
Plus: Maro Itoje wedding, PJ2025, Funke Akindele, Davido, Wizkid, Burna Boy, Tyla, Barry Diller, Damson Idris GQ cover, Sophy The Odditty, CKay proposal, Falz return, Kizz Daniel and more...
Welcome to The Feed, where Dennis is very excited about the weekend. I managed to create some time this week to run through some really great essays and started reading a book, a memoir by Barry Diller called Who Knew. It's really good.
Juma Jux and Priscilla Ojo's wedding festivities continued this week with another lavish affair in Tanzania. We don’t have the details, but we have the stunning photos of Funke Akindele at the event.
Damson Idris is on the cover of GQ, and the interview is worth your time. We have the link later.
What does it mean to be a disabled person attending a concert in Nigeria? I spoke with Toyosi Alexis about her experience attending a Burna Boy concert years ago.
We stood in the VIP section at the front. I could hear the drums, too. They hit my ears, loud and vivacious. I was vibing. Burna had climbed the stage. And then, I realised I could not hear his voice.
I wear a Bluetooth hearing aid that is connected to my phone and it tunes out the noise so I can focus on what is most important. It automatically adjusts to my environment as needed — just like a noise-cancellation headphone would. But the music was so loud that I could not hear Burna singing. His voice had been tuned out by the noise.
I stood on a chair so I could at least see him. Later, my cousin lifted me on his shoulder, where I sat reading Burna’s lips. I was so happy.
What if I tell you someone broke up with her boyfriend because he doesn’t rate Davido? Marv Tomide spoke to the boyfriend.
I didn’t think much of her awful statement and considered it banter. Love is blind, I guess. Understandably, she is an obsessed fan. I was aware of this, but somehow, what was supposed to be our random personal conversation became a rift over a celebrity, and it boggled my mind. I wondered why people who weren’t in our relationship were causing that kind of lashing out.
Although I laughed throughout the fight, it felt personal and more than just an argument over a celebrity. The whole argument lasted for only five minutes, but during those minutes, I felt like an opp. We went back and forth, and then she hung up on me. Even after that, I kept on laughing. It was that hilarious.
We have created this form for feedback, and we’d like to hear your thoughts in the coming days. Please feel free to share some with us.

One Good Article
This week, my One Good Article is this piece that my colleague Betty Godson wrote about a young Nigerian woman who suffered abuse for years at the hands of her uncle. The uncle is now critically ill, and she begins to reconsider her experience with him. I found it riveting and honest.
Look at how you people used Tiwa Savage to drag us to read this feed. I would not have read it otherwise, as I was keen to find out what this her life philosophy was all about. Great hook!
Such a shame about Ngugi Wa Thiongo. I grew up reading his works. He was one of the first East African writers to write literature purely in Swahili. May he rest in perfect peace. He will be remembered fondly.
